Lowry Kline
Lowry Kline played a crucial role in securing crucial funding that made it possible to launch the Tennessee Justice Center. As Chair of the Tennessee Bar Foundation in 1996, Lowry worked with his predecessor and fellow honoree, David Herbert, to provide TJC its first grant from the Foundation’s Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program. IOLTA funding has remained a cornerstone of TJC’s operating budget ever since.
Lowry’s support for TJC is one of his many contributions to the administration of justice and community leadership. A graduate of the University of Tennessee and its College of Law, Lowry practiced corporate law in Chattanooga for over twenty-five years, becoming a member of the Miller & Martin law firm. During his legal career he served as President of the Chattanooga Bar Association and as a member of the Board of Governors of the Tennessee Bar Association. He also served as President of the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners. In 1992, Lowry joined Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. as General Counsel. He became CEO of Coca-Cola in 2001 and retired as executive chair in 2008. He has served as president of the UT Knoxville Alumni Board of Directors. Lowry and his wife, Jane, have been generous philanthropists, supporting the arts, education and the conservation of public lands.
