We provide free, direct services to help Tennesseans access and navigate healthcare and nutrition programs such as TennCare Medicaid and SNAP. We work with families to get and keep the essential benefits and support they need.
From that work, and in partnership with advocates, we identify barriers and use those insights to drive policy changes that address systemic inequities in access, including those related to race, immigration status, and rural location.
When we see a pattern of barriers or unlawful practices, we go to court to achieve large-scale change. Sometimes, current policies stand in the way of our state's ability to honor the rights and dignity of every Tennessean. In these cases, our legal team works to achieve systemic change through the courts.
