WHAT WE DO.

OUR FOREVER HOME

TJC has found a permanent home at 155 Lafayette Street in South Nashville, a milestone finalized with our move on August 1, 2023. This marked the end of years of uncertainty due to frequent relocations forced by development and rising rents. Our journey, spanning 27 years, led us through various downtown locations, including a condemned building and the basement of a parking garage. Now situated in the Cameron-Trimble neighborhood, known for its rich history of racial and economic justice, we are ready to embrace the "power of proximity" to better serve our community. With your support, we can continue building our future and making a lasting impact.

With a gift of $2,500 or more, you can have your name or desired message engraved onto one of our patio bricks and make your mark on TJC forever.

WHAT HAVING THIS BUILDING MEANS

A PLACE

TO STAY

Owning our building represents a shift from constant adaptation to long-term stability for the Tennessee Justice Center. After years of navigating relocations and rising costs in Nashville, we now operate from a space we can grow into, plan around, and rely on. This permanence allows us to focus less on logistics and more on advancing access to healthcare and nutrition programs across Tennessee.

PROXIMITY TO COMMUNITY

Located in South Nashville’s Cameron-Trimble neighborhood, the Tennessee Justice Center is positioned to be more accessible and visible to the people we serve, including clients eligible for TennCare, SNAP, and WIC. Our proximity to the state legislature, volunteer attorneys, and universities like Vanderbilt, Belmont, Fisk, TSU, and Trevecca creates more opportunities to connect individuals with legal assistance, advocacy, and essential services.

SUSTAINABILITY THAT FUELS IMPACT

Owning our space reduces long-term costs and minimizes the risk of rising rents, allowing more resources to be directed toward direct legal services and anti-hunger programs. The building also offers flexibility to support growth or generate income through subleasing, while eliminating the administrative burden of repeated moves. This stability strengthens our ability to deliver consistent, statewide impact.
