METRO CLIENT ADVOCATE
Full-Time Position | Based in Nashville TN | Salaried ($47,000-$50,000)
Tennessee Justice Center (TJC) is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Client Advocate to join our team. In this role, you will work directly with the clients who inspire our mission, providing support and ensuring their needs are met with the utmost care. As a Client Advocate, you will report to our Casework Supervisor and collaborate closely with our highly skilled legal team. A typical day might look like:

Working with clients in Davidson County to determine the nature of their legal issues and gathering demographic information and documents so the case can be reviewed by the Casework Supervisor, Senior Client Advocate and/or TJC attorney.

Maintaining a caseload of around 30-32 active cases at a time composed of families in Davidson county and working under the guidance of an attorney to help these clients resolve their healthcare-related legal issues.

Maintain meticulous and organized records of client interactions and case details in our Salesforce database, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Utilize your strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve client issues, working closely with our internal team of attorneys to find effective solutions.

Assisting clients who come to our office in person with SNAP applications and/or health care related needs.

Occasionally attending community outreach events.

Maintaining relationships with partner organizations in the neighborhood; participating in the monthly Neighborhood Safety Meeting.

Promote improved health laws and policies by sharing client stories with TJC’s health advocacy team.

Contribute actively to a small, dynamic Casework team where every member plays a crucial role, embracing a hands-on approach to achieving team goals. Likewise, contribute to TJC’s organizational sustainability and success by responding, if able, to TJC_All requests for help.
The ideal fellow will have:

Strong analytical, communication, writing, and critical thinking skills, as well as empathy and a good sense of humor.

Flexibility, patience, dedication, creativity, and the ability to work well in a team are important qualities.

Prior experience working with diverse backgrounds, especially rural and low-income communities, is desirable.

Fluency in a foreign language, particularly Spanish, is a plus.

Prior experience in a legal environment is welcomed but not required.
