One of our clients is a hardworking family-man. Living in Anderson County, Tennessee, this client loves to spend quality time with wife and five children by walking trails in the park, going to movies, and jumping on the trampoline in the summer. He wholeheartedly embraces the joyful chaos that comes with having a large family.
As a single-income household, the health insurance offered by our client’s employer — which has a $10,000 deductible — is simply not affordable. He relies on TennCare Medicaid to afford health care for his family. “We’d be up to our neck in debt,” our client candidly responded when asked what his family’s life would be like without Medicaid coverage. His wife has arthritis alongside severe foot pain that has required surgery. Additionally, multiple of his children require Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in school. All his family’s medical expenses have been covered through Medicaid, which has been indispensable for the health and well-being of our client’s family.
Thanks to Medicaid, his children can access the necessary support they need to thrive in school. When asked what Medicaid means to his family, our client responded, “It’s been an absolute lifesaver. Our children are now excelling in school. If we didn’t have Medicaid, my children would’ve fallen behind.” Every child deserves the opportunity to thrive in school, and Medicaid made this a reality for our client’s children.
