When our clients are terminated or denied enrollment or services in our state’s Medicaid program, TennCare, our clients have rights to explain and argue why the state’s adverse decision is incorrect. For the past three years many of our clients have not faced an adverse decision regarding their TennCare enrollment because the state was required to maintain coverage due to the COVID emergency. Beginning in April 2023, this requirement was lifted. Our clients will need to know how to exercise their rights and may need help from attorneys. This presentation will provide an overview of TennCare, our client’s due process rights under the Medicaid program, and the administrative appeals process. We will discuss the types of cases we see and how we navigate these cases. We will also discuss opportunities for pro bono experiences at TJC. This course will offer CLE credit to Tennessee licensed attorneys. Presented by Vanessa Zapata, Staff Attorney.
