The Wednesday Brief: Medicaid & SNAP in Focus

House Republicans have released their plan in the Energy and Commerce Committee bill that would impose harsh work and cost-sharing requirements for Medicaid, restrict how states fund their Medicaid programs, cap essential Medicaid spending, and undermine ACA Marketplace protections. If passed, these changes would push millions of Americans, including vulnerable Tennesseans, off coverage and destabilize programs families rely on every day.

Additionally, the House Agriculture Committee is releasing its proposal on Monday with more details about proposals to cut $230 billion in federal spending from the SNAP program which include stricter work requirements and discussions about shifting cost to states.
