Tennessee ranks third in the nation for food insecurity among seniors, with about 1 in 10 seniors facing hunger. While TN has taken positive steps to adopt policies like the Elderly Simplified Application Project (ESAP), recent federal legislation has increased barriers for seniors who rely on SNAP to feed themselves and sometimes their grandchildren too.
