ANTI-HUNGER CLIENT ADVOCATE INTERN

Part-Time Position | Based in Nashville, TN | Unpaid internship

For over 28 years, we at the Tennessee Justice Center (TJC) have been standing with Tennessee families and helping them access basic necessities of life. We believe that all our neighbors have value and dignity, that all deserve the opportunity to thrive, and that our laws and public policy should reflect these shared values. Every day our courageous team works hard on behalf of and in partnership with Tennessee individuals, families, and communities.

Do you want to join our fight?

We are looking to hire an Anti-Hunger Client Advocate Intern to help our clients access the nutrition safety net programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). If you’re compassionate and have an eye for detail, then this could be the job for you.

  • Knowledge of and willingness to learn more about the nutrition assistance programs (SNAP, WIC, P-EBT)

  • Assisting in direct client work, taking calls from clients and helping them access their SNAP and P-EBT benefits

  • Performing tasks related to case management – maintaining accurate case files, recording client data

  • Evaluating and monitoring client cases to ensure eligible individuals have or maintain access to SNAP

  • Gathering client stories, research data, and the latest nutrition policy updates to share with partners, the public, and decision makers

This job might be for you if:

  • You enjoy going above and beyond to help people when they are in crisis

  • You are super organized and obsessively take detailed notes on everything

  • You have amazing problem-solving skills

  • You flourish on a small team where all hands-on deck is the norm

  • You can talk to people all day and it energizes you rather than drains you
