00:00 / 00:21
In 1957, Erroll Groves with his mother, Mrs. Iridella Groves, and other family members walked up to the doors of Buena Vista School on the first day of school, Sept. 9, 1957. A total of 15 black first graders entered the school and desegregation was established in Nashville, including one of our own Deputy Mayor's, Brenda Haywood.
