HEALTH POLICY & ADVOCACY INTERN

Our work focuses on educating community members, advocates, service providers, and policymakers about the importance of health equity – ensuring that every Tennessean has access to the resources they need to be healthy – and promoting health policy opportunities to advance the goal.

Advocacy
You will engage with partner organizations and individuals to help educate and reach relevant stakeholders in the health policy landscape.
Responsibilities include:

Assisting with and attending community trainings and events (press conferences, public forums, etc.);

Participating in organizing and grassroots lobbying (promoting sign-on letters, asking community members to write letters, etc.);

Supporting TJC’s social media efforts by posting and sharing content on various platforms

Engagement Tracking
Policy
You will complete research and writing assignments on developments in Medicaid policy at the state and federal level, collect and analyze data to promote health equity, and promote findings to the public.
Responsibilities include:

Conduct research on major policy issues

Analyze data about health in Tennessee

Help develop creative ways to engage the public

Promote our programs and trainings

Produce written content, such as factsheets, blogs, social media posts, and policy briefs on a variety of topics related to TJC’s focus areas
In this role, you will learn how state and federal policies can address health disparities, and how to hold our government more accountable to advancing health equity. We welcome applications from undergraduate and graduate students with a background in public health, law and/or public policy, or social sciences. Remote flexibility offered on a case-by-case basis.
