"As our elected officials consider to weigh the future of our nation’s healthcare, I thought I would take the opportunity to share my experiences with coverage and access to care. First, my insurance comes from Healthcare Marketplace due to my employer offering insurance. This has definitely helped with monthly premiums, however the cost to go to the doctors and monthly prescriptions still put a financial strain with the cost of everything else inflating. In 2021, I switched from BCBS to Cigna due to the cost, which drove my decision to switch providers. So on top of monthly premiums and deductibles being met it’s difficult to try to keep up with making sure you can even afford to go to the doctor at times. This basically boils down to figuring out what health care services you can afford to access and work out a plan throughout the year to make sure you stay as healthy as possible and still afford the essentials for living."
