TJC offers trainings and CLEs (Continuing Legal Education) throughout the year on TennCare and the Affordable Care Act. Our trainings range from 1 hour to 2 days, and can cover TennCare rules, how the Affordable Care Act has affected Tennessee, and how lawyers can take pro bono cases. Our trainings are free for participants, and we encourage hospital workers, certified application counselors, navigators, social workers, lawyers, and anyone who works with folks on TennCare to attend. To request a training in your area, email Keila at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Webinar Series: Changes for Seniors
Seniors will soon see the most momentous changes in government policy affecting their lives since the enactment of Medicare and Medicaid 50 years ago. Congressional leaders and the president vow to reform senior safety net programs and to substantially cut the domestic budget that funds these programs. Medicare, MSP, Medicaid (a/k/a “TennCare,” which covers over half of long term services and supports in Tennessee), SNAP and other senior programs may fundamentally change. It is critical for all of us who serve seniors to learn about these changes so we can adapt to better serve our clients.
The webinar series will share up to date information on the status of affairs in Washington and anticipated changes to the Medicare Trust Fund, Medicare Part D donut hole, Medicare free preventative services, treatment of dual eligibles (Medicare and Medicaid), Medicaid, the Older Americans Act, and Elder Justice Act.
