Ways to Take Action Now

TJC-033115-1127

Governor Haslam’s Insure Tennessee plan is vital not only for our 280,000 neighbors who are living without access to health care coverage, but also for our hospitals and our economy. But to make sure that our elected officials do the right thing, we need to make sure our voices are heard. Our elected officials need to know that we want Insure Tennessee, and that we won’t stop fighting for equal access to health care until we achieve it.

To stay updated on what you can do to get involved, join our Insure Tennessee email list here.

Below are ways that you can take action to make a difference. Take these steps, then ask your friends to take these steps. Together, we can gain approval for Insure Tennessee, and help 280,000 of our neighbors gain access to health care coverage.

Take Action Right Now

Right now, Speaker Beth Harwell needs to hear from you.

As the leader of the House, Speaker Harwell has the ability to push for Insure Tennessee to come to the floor for a full vote. But she needs to hear from all of us. Call her now, and tell her that you support Insure Tennessee, and that you would like to see her bring it to the floor. Her phone number is 615-741-0709.

Multiply Your Voice

Phone banks across the state are happening to make sure that Tennesseans know about Insure Tennessee, and to ask people to call their legislators.

When you join us in phone banking, you can reach hundreds of people and help them take action. You can make a difference.

In Nashville, come to phone banking on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:30 at the Tennessee Health Care Campaign office (1321 Murfreesboro Pike, Suite 155, Nashville). Email Tony Garr at tgarrthcc@gmail.com to let him know you are coming. If you’d like to phone bank in other areas, please email Keila at kfranks@tnjustice.org.

  • Bring a resolution to your county or town

Across Tennessee, dozens of counties and towns have passed resolutions in support of Insure Tennessee — Knoxville to Sweetwater to Henderson County, communities across the state are expressing their support for Insure Tennessee. These resolutions are important because they give an opportunity for education, for earned media, and for our elected officials to know that their constituents support Insure Tennessee.

  • Call your elected officials

These are people that need to hear from you right now — and if you’ve already called them, call them again! It is vital that our lawmakers continue to hear from us. Once you’ve made these phone calls, tell 5 friends to make them, too — or, if you would like to join phone bankers across the state, email Keila at kfranks@tnjustice.org.
