Community members in the following cities/towns are invited to come to a local community meeting to discuss the health and economic issues that the community is facing, and how unblocking federal Medicaid expansion funds could help address these issues.
The TN state legislature has barred us from using $1.4 billion/year in federal Medicaid funding to generate and preserve jobs, sustain our healthcare infrastructure and cover uninsured working families. A solid majority of Tennesseans support bringing home these federal health care dollars to expand Medicaid, but we need to build that support still further.
The community meeting will discuss ways to educate our communities about how bringing home our federal tax dollars could address the communities’ most urgent health and economic needs. The goal is to come out of the meeting with a plan for local action. Just a handful of people in local districts taking action, such as talking to candidates for public office or submitting a letter to the editor, will be the most powerful determinant in pushing the TN legislature to expand Medicaid in 2019.
