We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Last week Channel 4 covered the John B. lawsuit! Check out the story! The news story features Ms. Brown, one of our brave moms who testified in court.
Last week we were in court on Monday and Tuesday and only heard from our witnesses- the state has called all of their witnesses.
On Monday, we called Cheryl Seefeldt, a family nurse practitioner at a clinic for low-income women- the Hope Clinic for Women. After Ms. Seefeldt, we called Ms. Nan Gaylord, a nursing professor at U.T. and head of a clinic at an inner city middle school in Knoxville.
Later on Monday, we call Theresa Vay Smith, an attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands who spoke about a foster child for whom she is the guardian ad litem.
We ended Monday by hearing from Ms. Ashford and her struggles accessing care for her daughter, Binta.
On Tuesday, we continued to hear from Ms. Ashford. After Ms. Ashford, we called Sara Rosenbaum, an expert in Medicaid managed care contracting. Her expert report is here. We ended Tuesday by calling Dr. Hayes, a developmental pediatrician and former Medical Director of the agency now known as Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
Yesterday we began by hearing the rest of Dr. Hayes testimony, whose report is here. Next, we called Dr. Bill Allen, a clinical psychologist, expert in care for children with autism and Vice President at Cherokee Health Systems. His expert report is here.
After Dr. Allen, we heard from Ms. Burk, an adoptive mother of children on TennCare. Today we will continue to hear from Ms. Burk. Check out her photo with Nikki, her fierce Client Advocate at TJC, Cantrell, our wonderful pro bono counsel from SNR Denton, and John, Client Advocate at TJC!

After Ms. Burk, we will call Ms. Womac, a mother of two children on TennCare. Ms. Womac will be our final witness.
We expect the trial to be over by mid-week. We know we couldn’t haven’t gotten through this without your overwhelming generosity and support, for which we are deeply appreciative.
