Every year, at Thanksgiving, we express our gratitude for the work we’re blessed to do. This year, as we engage intensely in the John B. children’s health trial, we are more thankful than ever. Each day, as we argue for the rights of Tennessee’s sickest and poorest children, we are surrounded by parents, pro bono lawyers, and child welfare experts who’ve come to tell their stories to the judge. They give their unique and passionate perspectives on how the health care system fails to meet the needs of Tennessee’s kids and how it can be improved to work more efficiently and effectively.
Also around this time each year, we are grateful to hear from you: Friends. Supporters. Donors. Your notes of encouragement, words of wisdom, and expressions of support have been coming through email, phone, and letters. This year, we have a special need for your financial support, and we’ve set two goals that we hope to meet (even exceed)!

Goal 1: This Thanksgiving, in recognition of our15th anniversary, we want to raise $15,000 more than our best Thanksgiving total ever, for a total of $90,000. With our small overall budget, your donation makes a big impact. Here’s what your investment in our work has produced:
$50 won TennCare reinstatement for twin toddlers
$200 won a special needs teenager nursing care that allows him to live at home with his family
$400 secured critical brain surgery for a 10-year-old whose insurance had been wrongly terminated
$2,400 sent a TJC educator to meet with 700 parents and child advocates last year
In order to suport this goal, consider becoming a monthly donor! Pledge $15 (in honor of our 15th anniversary!) per month for 2012. (This is just the cost of a few cups of coffee, but it will make a real difference for our clients.)
Goal 2: In our hot-off-the-press year end letter, we introduced a new donor level: the Justice League. Be one of its founding members! Help us reach our goal of 25 members this year. Justice League members donate $500 or more in 2011, and pledge at that level or higher for the next two years. If you want to make a strong statement of your ongoing support for our work, and for Tennessee’s most vulnerable, we invite you to consider joining the Justice League.
