Happy New Year!
We just finished up a huge year here at TJC and we are excited about what is coming up! Check out what we did in our 15th anniversary year and what’s ahead in 2012.
TJC’s reach
- In 2011, we worked with 448 families.
- We had 12 interns and volunteers who were an integral part of the work we did.
- We provided over 1600 families and advocates with self-advocacy materials, made 28 presentations that trained parents and advocates about children’s TennCare rights, and educated nearly 400 people about the TennCare appeals process at TJC trainings and resource fairs across the state.
- We had over 19,000 visits to our website and nearly 22,000 people viewed our Facebook page!
John B
- We completed court proceedings for John B., our children’s health case, with 14 volunteer expert witnesses and 25 fact witnesses, 18 of which were caretakers of children on TennCare.
- Ten pro bono attorneys from Kirkland & Ellis and SNR Denton have worked tirelessly on this case for years. These attorneys worked with us and our witnesses to make the John B. trial happen. We absolutely could not have done it without them.
- We filed our post-trial brief and are awaiting the Judge’s ruling, which could come as early as late January. You can read the post-trial brief on our website.
Thank you so much for the tremendous amount of support and encouragement during the court proceedings!
Fundraising
- We raised just over $188,000 in 2011 from 260 different donors! This is more donations than ever before! Thank you to those who gave so generously to us! If you still want to donate to us, you can go here.
Get Involved!
- Help us spread the word! We hope to get 2012 Facebook “likes” in 2012. You can help by sharing our Facebook page with your friends! Click here for step-by-step instructions on how to do that.
- Our annual Mothers of the Year event is coming up soon! Keep an eye out for future emails about this exciting event.
- As always, stay tuned to our website and blog and sign up for our mailing list to know what’s going on here at TJC!
Thank you always for your tremendous support of our work. Without you, we simply could not do it.
