Steve Downey
The Tennessee Justice Center’s web site is a vital resource for educating people about our work, while simultaneously serving as a great source of information for those in need of our help. Lacking an experienced web designer on our staff, the successful development of our current web site was made possible by the volunteer efforts of “TJC Hero” Steve Downey. In his spare time, Steve has spent the past two years completely redesigning TJC’s web site. As director of the Web Team for the United Methodist Church, Steve volunteered his tremendous experience and knowledge. His detailed, step-by-step answers to our numerous questions have been instrumental in enabling us to update and maintain the web site. Steve’s ability to contribute so much as a volunteer (after hours) while working full-time for the United Methodist Church is testament to his generosity and dedication. Those involved with Steve’s work over the past two years speak of his helpfulness, kindness, and knowledge. “Steve developed a website that is polished and professional, which includes features we could not accommodate on our previous site,” said Amy Griffith, former TJC webmaster. “Furthermore, he has incorporated it into a framework that will enable us to continue its development as we grow.” Steve always told us, "A good web presence needs to match the organization’s overall vision, strategy, and objectives." At TJC, we are confident that Steve has met his own criteria. The current web site successfully shares our advocacy mission while showing the humanity behind our work, something we greatly desired our web site to communicate. The entire staff at the Tennessee Justice Center thanks Steve for his tremendous contribution to our organization. His work will continue to benefit TJC for years to come. Steve is married to Kathy Hearne, a social work administrator. They have one daughter, Brenna, a junior at St. Louis University.
